Overview

What is Toll-Free & ITFS Numbers?

Toll-free numbers let your customers, partners and employees call you at no cost to themselves - the called party pays. Dollu provides three formats: national toll-free numbers such as 1-800 in the US, 0800 in the UK or 1800 in India; International Toll-Free Service (ITFS) numbers, which are country-specific toll-free numbers reachable from within that country and delivered to you anywhere; and Universal International Freephone Numbers (UIFN), a single +800 number that works from multiple participating countries.

Inbound calls to your toll-free numbers are collected from the national operators in each country, answered at Dollu's nearest PoP and delivered over SIP to your contact centre, PBX or cloud platform wherever it is. Routing supports time-of-day and origin-based rules, so a UK 0800 can go to your London team by day and Manila by night, and a US 800 can split by state to regional agents.

Toll-free has operational nuances that vary by country. Mobile accessibility - whether the number can be dialled from mobiles and whether the caller pays a surcharge - differs from market to market. Payphone origination in some countries attracts a per-call surcharge. Some ITFS numbers cannot be reached from certain networks. Our portal shows accessibility per country before you order and our billing itemises surcharges transparently.

Toll-free numbers are a staple of contact centres, and Dollu's service is designed around them: high concurrent-channel counts, low post-dial delay, real-time origin analytics, DNIS-based routing so one platform can answer hundreds of numbers, and a 24×7 NOC that monitors inbound route health country by country. Existing toll-free numbers can be ported in, including US RespOrg changes, and vanity numbers can be sourced in markets that support them. Because the number holder pays for inbound minutes, we also apply velocity limits and origin controls to defend against toll-free traffic pumping.

How it fits together

Reading the diagramA caller dials your local, national or toll-free number. The in-country operator hands the call to Dollu over a direct interconnect; the numbers platform applies translation, CLI and routing rules and delivers the call over SIP to the endpoint you configured - PBX, UCaaS, contact centre, Voice API application or a PSTN forward. OPTIONS health checks and a per-number failover chain keep calls arriving when a primary endpoint is down.
Why Dollu

Why choose Dollu for toll-free & itfs.

The advantages of buying from a carrier that owns its network, interconnects and operations - rather than a reseller.

  • Remove the barrier to calling

Customers are more likely to call, and stay on the line, when the call is free. Toll-free numbers lift inbound sales, support satisfaction and survey completion.

  • One number strategy, many countries

Publish a toll-free number in every market and route them all into a single platform, or use one UIFN across participating countries for global campaigns.

  • Built for contact-centre load

Hundreds of concurrent channels per number, sub-second post-dial delay, DNIS and origin data passed in SIP headers for skills-based routing.

  • No surprises on the bill

Per-country inbound rates, mobile-origination and payphone surcharges are published upfront and itemised on the invoice, with usage alerts to catch anomalies.

  • Resilient by default

Geo-redundant collection from national operators, dual SIP delivery and PSTN failover keep your toll-free lines answering through outages.

A national toll-free number is dialled within a country and delivered within it.
