Overview

What is Cloud PBX & Business Phone System?

Dollu Cloud PBX replaces the on-premise phone system with a hosted platform that runs on the same carrier core we use to route billions of minutes a year. Every user gets an extension, a direct number if required, voicemail, presence and a choice of desk phone, softphone or mobile app. Calls in and out of the business traverse our own SIP trunks and interconnects rather than a third-party carrier, so we control the quality, the routing and the number inventory end to end.

The feature set covers what a modern business expects from a phone system: multi-level auto-attendant with time-of-day and holiday routing, ring groups and hunt groups, call queues with position announcements, call parking, transfer and barge, voicemail-to-email with transcription, on-demand and always-on call recording, and a company directory that follows the user across devices. Administrators manage all of it from a web portal; changes such as adding a seat or re-pointing an attendant menu take effect within seconds, without a site visit or a truck roll.

Because Dollu is also a numbering and carrier provider, your phone system comes with local, national, mobile and toll-free numbers in more than 110 countries on the same account, plus porting of existing numbers wherever regulation allows. A company with offices in Noida, London and Singapore can present a local identity in each market, route calls between sites as free internal extensions and give a single main number a follow-the-sun answering plan, all without buying trunks from three different operators.

Commercially the service is simple: a per-seat monthly price that includes the platform, the apps, standard features and a calling bundle, with hardware bought outright or rented, and no minimum term above twelve months for standard plans. The platform is geo-redundant across our PoPs, media is encrypted with TLS and SRTP by default, and the same 24×7 NOC that watches our carrier network watches your phone system.

Why Dollu

Why choose Dollu for cloud pbx.

The advantages of buying from a carrier that owns its network, interconnects and operations - rather than a reseller.

  • Lower cost than an on-premise PBX

No PBX hardware, maintenance contracts or PRI circuits. A predictable per-seat price includes the platform, apps, standard features and a calling bundle, and you add or remove seats month by month.

  • Live in days, not months

Numbers, extensions and call flows are configured in the portal, phones auto-provision when plugged in, and existing numbers port in the background - most sites are live within a week.

  • Work from anywhere on any device

The same extension rings a desk phone, a desktop softphone and a mobile app simultaneously; calls hand off between devices mid-conversation and presence stays consistent everywhere.

  • One provider for the phone system and the numbers

Because Dollu holds numbers in 110+ countries and runs its own carrier interconnects, a new office in another country is a portal order rather than a new operator relationship.

  • Carrier-grade reliability and security

Geo-redundant clusters, encrypted signalling and media, fraud monitoring on outbound traffic and a 24×7 NOC - the same operational standards we apply to wholesale carrier traffic.

Capabilities

Capabilities in detail.

Everything included with Cloud PBX & Business Phone System - the platform features, options and controls you get from day one.

  1. 01

    Extensions and dial plans

Two- to six-digit extensions, direct-dial numbers per user, inter-site short codes, outbound caller-ID rules per user or department, and class-of-service controls on international and premium-rate dialling.

  2. 02

    Auto-attendant and IVR menus

Multi-level menus with recorded or text-to-speech prompts, dial-by-name and dial-by-extension, time-of-day, day-of-week and holiday schedules, and emergency override so a receptionist can re-route the main number from a phone.

  3. 03

Ring groups, hunt groups and queues

Simultaneous, sequential, round-robin and longest-idle ring strategies; queues with hold music, position and wait-time announcements, callback and overflow to voicemail, another group or a mobile number.

  4. 04

    Voicemail-to-email and visual voicemail

Personal and group mailboxes delivered to email as audio with transcription, visible in the apps as a scrollable list, with PIN access from any phone and configurable retention.

  5. 05

    Call recording

On-demand or always-on recording per user, group or number, with announcement prompts, pause and resume, encrypted storage, role-based playback and export to your own storage or a compliance archive.

  6. 06

    Softphone and mobile apps

Desktop apps for Windows and macOS, mobile apps for iOS and Android with push-wake for inbound calls, and a WebRTC client in the browser - all sharing the same extension, contacts, presence and call history.

  7. 07

    Desk phone provisioning

Zero-touch provisioning for Poly, Yealink, Cisco, Fanvil and Grandstream handsets and conference phones; devices download their configuration on first boot and firmware is managed centrally.

  8. 08

    Global numbers and porting

Local, national, mobile and toll-free numbers in more than 110 countries assigned in the portal, with number porting, regulatory address registration and emergency-services routing handled per country.

  9. 09

    Admin portal, analytics and APIs

Role-based administration, call detail records, live and historical dashboards on volumes, answer times and missed calls, and a REST API for MSPs and integrators to automate provisioning.

How it works

How it works.

From first conversation to live traffic - a tracked, engineer-led onboarding with a named owner at every step.

  1. Step 01

    Design

We map your sites, users, numbers and call flows in a short workshop, agree the seat mix and hardware, and produce a porting and cut-over plan.

  2. Step 02

    Provision

Your tenant, extensions, attendants and groups are configured in the portal. New numbers are allocated immediately and porting requests are submitted for existing ranges.

  3. Step 03

    Cut over

Phones auto-provision when plugged in, users sign in to the apps, and ported numbers switch over on the agreed date with our engineers on a bridge for the migration window.

  4. Step 04

    Manage

Add seats, change call flows and pull reports from the portal at any time. Your account manager reviews usage and cost quarterly and the NOC monitors the service around the clock.

Compare

SIP trunk vs ISDN PRI.

What changes when you move a PBX, contact centre or Teams estate from ISDN circuits to SIP - and why most estates never go back.

SIP trunking compared with ISDN primary rate access on capacity, provisioning, resilience, security, numbers, cost model and longevity.
DimensionSIP trunkDollu recommendsISDN PRI
Capacity per unitElastic - channels are added in software; burst capacity on demand for peaksFixed - 30 B-channels per E1 (23 per T1); a new circuit for every step up
Provisioning timeHours to days over any existing IP connectivityWeeks - physical circuit delivery, PBX card and installation visit
ResilienceRegistration to multiple Dollu PoPs, DNS SRV failover, geographic redundancy without extra circuitsA single physical path unless a second circuit is installed and paid for
Media securityTLS signalling and SRTP media end to end; SBC-frontedPhysically separate circuit; no encryption in the protocol itself
Number portabilityNumbers from 110+ countries on one trunk - ported in or newly issued; not tied to a locationNumbers tied to the local exchange and the circuit’s address; moving means porting
Cost modelPer channel or per concurrent call plus per-second usage; no circuit rental or install chargeCircuit rental plus per-channel plus per-minute usage; install and engineer charges
Future-proofingNative to Teams Direct Routing, cloud PBX, CCaaS and voice APIs; ready for the ISDN switch-offBeing withdrawn - PSTN and ISDN switch-off programmes are under way in the UK, EU and elsewhere
Use cases

Who uses this and why.

Typical deployments across carriers, enterprises, platforms and contact centres.

  • SMBs replacing an ageing PBX

Retire the on-site box and ISDN lines for a hosted system with better features, no maintenance and a monthly per-seat price.

  • Multi-site and multi-country enterprises

One phone system across offices in several countries with local numbers in each, free inter-site calling and central administration.

  • Hybrid and remote teams

Give home-based staff a business number, a softphone and the same queues and presence as the office, without VPNs or forwarding to personal mobiles.

  • Professional services firms

Recording, voicemail-to-email and per-client caller-ID for law, accounting and consulting practices that bill time and need a record of calls.

  • Clinics and practices

Appointment lines with queues and callback, after-hours attendants and privacy-conscious recording for healthcare and dental practices.

An internet connection with enough headroom for concurrent calls (roughly 100 kbps per call with G.711, less with Opus), a LAN with QoS and PoE for desk phones, and a firewall that allows SIP over TLS and RTP. We can supply the connectivity too - DIA or SD-WAN with voice prioritisation - and we validate your network before cut-over.
