Overview

What is SMS Hubbing & Interconnection?

International SMS interworking traditionally means negotiating, testing and maintaining hundreds of bilateral agreements, each with its own signalling link, commercial terms and settlement cycle. Dollu's SMS hub replaces that with a single interconnect. Connect once and your subscribers can exchange person-to-person messages with users on more than 800 operator networks, while enterprise A2P traffic destined for your network arrives over one controlled, monetised gateway. The service is designed for mobile network operators, MVNOs and MVNEs that want carrier-grade reach without a carrier-sized interconnect team.

Technically, the hub speaks the protocols your core already uses. P2P traffic interworks over SS7 MAP carried on SIGTRAN (M3UA over SCTP), with global-title hosting and translation for operators that do not yet hold their own international GT ranges. A2P traffic terminates over SMPP 3.4 or 5.0 binds into your SMSC or our hosted SMSC. Every message passes through mobile-number-portability resolution - HLR or national porting-database lookups, depending on the market - so messages to ported numbers are delivered to the current network rather than bounced or misrouted.

The commercial layer is as important as the signalling. Agreements can be bilateral, where Dollu brokers and manages the relationship in your name, or hub-managed, where you sign once with us and we take on the counterparties. Revenue assurance tooling reconciles MO and MT counts against partner reports, flags mismatches and detects grey-route and SIM-farm bypass into your network. Integrated with our SMS firewall, unauthorised A2P traffic is blocked or redirected onto official, billed routes so the revenue that used to leak through grey channels returns to you.

Operationally, the hub runs across geo-redundant nodes at our London, Frankfurt, Mumbai and Singapore PoPs with 99.99% availability, store-and-forward with configurable retry schedules, and full delivery-report handling in both directions. A 24×7 NOC monitors link health, message success rates and latency per partner, and monthly settlement and traffic reports are provided per counterparty. Our carrier-relations team handles onboarding, testing and dispute resolution with each partner network so your team can focus on subscribers.

Why Dollu

Why choose Dollu for sms hubbing.

The advantages of buying from a carrier that owns its network, interconnects and operations - rather than a reseller.

  • Reach without hundreds of contracts

Open P2P and A2P interworking with 800+ networks through one agreement, one link and one settlement cycle instead of a bilateral programme that takes years to build.

  • Recover leaking A2P revenue

Firewall-integrated monetisation blocks or redirects grey-route enterprise traffic onto billed routes, turning bypass into recurring wholesale revenue.

  • Carrier-grade signalling, managed for you

SIGTRAN links, GT hosting, SCCP routing and SMPP binds are engineered, monitored and maintained by our team, backed by a 24×7 NOC.

  • Assurance and transparency

Per-partner MO/MT reconciliation, delivery-rate and latency reporting and monthly settlement statements give finance and regulatory teams a clear audit trail.

  • Faster launch for MVNOs and new entrants

Operators without an international interconnect team can be live with global P2P reach and A2P termination in weeks, using our hosted SMSC if needed.

How it works

How it works.

From first conversation to live traffic - a tracked, engineer-led onboarding with a named owner at every step.

  1. Step 01

    Assess and agree

We review your current interconnects, traffic mix, target destinations and monetisation goals, then agree the commercial model - bilateral, hub-managed or a mix.

  2. Step 02

    Interconnect and test

Establish SIGTRAN or SMPP links, configure GT hosting and routing policies, and run interworking tests with an initial set of partner networks in both directions.

  3. Step 03

    Open destinations

Bring partner networks live in waves. Our carrier-relations team handles onboarding and test-plan sign-off with each counterparty while you monitor success rates in the portal.

  4. Step 04

    Monetise and assure

Enable firewall-integrated A2P monetisation, switch on MO/MT reconciliation and start receiving monthly settlement statements per partner.

  5. Step 05

    Optimise

Quarterly reviews of routes, rates and traffic patterns with your carrier-relations manager; add destinations, adjust policies and expand bilateral relationships as you grow.

Still have a question?

Ask our solutions team

Hubbing lets an operator reach many other networks through one interconnect and one commercial agreement rather than a separate bilateral for each partner. It removes the cost of negotiating, testing and settling hundreds of relationships and is aligned with the GSMA Open Connectivity model. Bilaterals still make sense for very high-volume partners, and the hub coexists with them.
