1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device so that it can recognise your browser on later visits or during a session. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage and pixels. Cookies set by dollu.com are first-party cookies; cookies set by another domain, for example an embedded map or video, are third-party cookies. Cookies can be session cookies, deleted when you close the browser, or persistent cookies with a defined lifetime.
2. How we use cookies
We group the cookies used on dollu.com into three categories: strictly necessary, analytics and preference. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, we do not sell data collected through cookies, and we do not allow third parties to place cookies on dollu.com for their own purposes. Strictly necessary cookies are set without consent because the site cannot function without them; analytics and preference cookies are set only after you accept them through the cookie banner or your account settings, where local law requires consent.
3. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for security and for the basic operation of dollu.com and the customer portal. They do not track you across sites and cannot be switched off in our tools, although you can block them in your browser at the cost of some functionality such as signing in or submitting forms.
- dollu_consent - records the choices you made in the cookie banner so we do not ask again; persistent, 180 days.
- dollu_session - keeps you signed in to the customer portal and protects forms against cross-site request forgery; session cookie, deleted when you close the browser.
- dollu_csrf - a one-time token that validates form submissions such as contact and quote requests; session cookie.
- dollu_lb - routes your requests to the same edge server during a visit for consistent performance; session cookie.
4. Analytics cookies
We use a self-hosted, privacy-focused analytics service to understand how many people visit dollu.com, which pages and services are viewed, which countries visitors come from and how they arrived. IP addresses are truncated before storage and reports are aggregated; we do not build individual visitor profiles. Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is aggregated or deleted, and it is never combined with customer account data or traffic data.
- dollu_analytics_id - a random identifier that distinguishes returning browsers so that visits can be counted; persistent, 13 months.
- dollu_analytics_session - groups page views into a single visit; persistent, 30 minutes from last activity.
5. Preference cookies
Preference cookies remember choices that make the site easier to use, such as your display theme or which contact region you selected. Losing them does not stop the site working, but you may need to make the same choice again on your next visit, and the portal may revert to its default settings.
- dollu_theme - stores your light or dark display preference; persistent, 12 months.
- dollu_banner - remembers that you dismissed a notice or announcement bar; persistent, 30 days.
- dollu_region - remembers the region or currency you selected on pricing and coverage pages; persistent, 6 months.
- dollu_portal_prefs - stores portal layout choices such as default dashboard, table density and time zone; persistent, 12 months.
6. Third-party content
Some pages embed content from other providers, such as an OpenStreetMap map showing our offices or a YouTube video explaining a service. When you interact with that content the provider may set its own cookies under its own policy; we load embedded video in privacy-enhanced mode where the provider offers it. Links to our LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube pages are plain links and do not set cookies until you leave dollu.com.
7. How to control cookies
You can change your cookie choices at any time. The simplest route is the cookie settings link in the footer of dollu.com, which reopens the banner and lets you turn analytics and preference cookies on or off; portal users can also do this under Account settings. Your browser gives you further control, and the options below apply to most modern browsers.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in to the customer portal and may stop contact and quote forms from submitting. Blocking analytics or preference cookies has no effect on the availability of the site; it only means we count your visit anonymously without a returning-visitor identifier and that your theme and region choices are not remembered.
- Block or delete cookies for dollu.com or for all sites through your browser’s privacy or site-data settings.
- Use private or incognito mode so that cookies are cleared when the window closes.
- Set your browser to warn you before a cookie is placed.
- Clear local storage and session storage alongside cookies to remove preference data completely.
8. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Our analytics honour the Global Privacy Control signal and the older Do Not Track header: where either is present, analytics cookies are not set even if the banner has not been answered, and any existing analytics identifier is ignored. Because there is no accepted industry standard for how these signals should be interpreted by third parties, embedded content providers may not respond to them in the same way.
9. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when we add or remove cookies, change a provider or when the law changes. Minor changes, such as a new cookie lifetime, are reflected in the lists above and in the date at the top of the page. Where a change materially affects how we use cookies, for example introducing a new category, we will reset the consent banner so that you are asked again.
