Overview

Dollu in Australia.

Australia is served from Dollu's Singapore PoP over low-latency subsea paths and through partner interconnect facilities in Sydney and Melbourne, where we hold direct connections to Australian fixed and mobile operators. Termination into Australian geographic, mobile and 13/1300/1800 ranges is offered on Premium CLI-guaranteed, Standard and Wholesale tiers, with continuous ASR, PDD and MOS measurement, and origination on Australian numbers is delivered over SIP to customers anywhere in the world.

Under the Australian Communications and Media Authority's numbering plan, Dollu provisions geographic numbers in the 02, 03, 07 and 08 areas, 1300 local-rate and 1800 free-call numbers for national presence, and 04 mobile numbers where SMS capability is required. Customer details are supplied to the Integrated Public Number Database as the law requires, and each number carries an emergency service address. Numbers can be routed to your SIP platform, Dollu's cloud PBX or CCaaS, or Microsoft Teams, and porting follows industry code processes.

A2P SMS to Australian subscribers is delivered over direct connections to Telstra, Optus and TPG Telecom networks. Alphanumeric sender IDs are checked against the ACMA SMS Sender ID Register, so brands should register their IDs before campaigns and OTP flows launch, and marketing traffic must satisfy the Spam Act's consent, identification and unsubscribe requirements. Dollu also supports Australian enterprises with SD-WAN, DIA and cloud connectivity through local carrier partners, managed by our 24×7 NOC.

Regulatory & compliance

What you need to know before you order.

Our compliance desk manages the paperwork; here is what to expect.

  • ACMA numbering and IPND

Numbers are used under the Telecommunications Numbering Plan and customer details must be lodged in the Integrated Public Number Database. Business KYC covers ABN or ACN, a service address and an authorised contact.

  • SMS Sender ID Register and Spam Act

Alphanumeric sender IDs are checked against the ACMA SMS Sender ID Register, so unregistered brand IDs risk being blocked or flagged. Commercial messages must have consent, identify the sender and include a functional unsubscribe under the Spam Act 2003.

  • Scam call reduction and CLI

The Reducing Scam Calls and Scam SMS industry code requires carriers to block calls with invalid or spoofed CLI and to verify sender IDs. International calls presenting Australian CLI must be legitimately assigned, and Dollu screens traffic accordingly.

  • Emergency calling and Do Not Call

000 must be reachable from every Australian number with an accurate service address, and marketing calls must be washed against the Do Not Call Register unless consent exists. Dollu supports both as part of the number and CCaaS services.

FAQ

Australia - common questions.

The questions customers and carriers ask us most often before they interconnect. If yours is not here, our team answers within one business day.

Still have a question?

Ask our solutions team

Not necessarily. Overseas businesses can hold Australian numbers after KYC, but we must lodge accurate customer and service address details in the IPND and the numbers must be used in line with the Numbering Plan. An ABN simplifies onboarding and is needed for some number types.
